What is a Dump Cake?

Dump cakes have recently become one of my favorite desserts to make! You quite literally just dump the ingredients into a baking dish (without mixing… hence “dump” cake), and bake in the oven. Dump cakes typically use some sort of pie filling or frozen fruit, cake mix, and butter. The cake mix combined with the melted butter in these recipes creates a warm, gooey cobbler-like consistency over top of the pie filling.

How to make Apple Pie Dump Cake?

As I mentioned previously, dump cakes are probably the easiest dessert to make. You will start by pouring the 2 cans of apple pie filling into the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish. I LOVE my casserole dish with travel case when taking desserts and casseroles to get togethers with family and friends! Sprinkle cinnamon and drizzle caramel sauce over the apple pie filling. Pour an even layer of dry cake mix over the entire dish and top with thin slices of butter. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes. Enjoy!
