These delicious, juicy chicken burger patties are a super easy weeknight dinner recipe that can be thrown together in a matter of minutes!
Jump to RecipeThese homemade chicken burgers are a go-to at our house for a busy weeknight dinner. These homemade patties only require a handful of ingredients (that you most likely already have at home) and minimal prep work!
The reason I love this recipe so much is because you really can’t mess it up. There are so many different versions, substitutions, and additions that will all turn out perfect (see examples below)!
The trick to shaping these burgers is to lightly dampen your hands or lightly spray with Pam before shaping the meat. This will keep your hands from sticking to the chicken when shaping (it will be very sticky).
You want to be sure that each burger is the same size. 1 lb. of meat will typically get you 4 patties. I recommend scoring the meat mixture into 4 equal sections so that each patty will be the same size (I just happened to make 3 larger patties in this photo).
While you CAN grill these burgers on an outdoor grill, that isn’t typically my favorite method simply because the ground chicken isn’t very dense and can get droopy on the grill. My favorite ways to make these burgers are stovetop (cast iron or stainless skillet) or on the T-Fal Opti Grill (which I HIGHLY recommend if you don’t have one!!!). If cooking on a skillet, let the patties cook on one side for 3-4 minutes, flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes or until internal temperature is 160 degrees (temp will continue to rise as they rest).
There are so many toppings to choose from and my husband always enjoys his as a burger with a bun. You can use buns, rolls, or even sandwich thins if you are watching carb intake! If you like the bun toasted, butter (or mayo) the cut side of the bun, place face down on a warm skillet, and toast for approximately one minute.
The toppings we like best are cheese, barbeque sauce (no sugar added), lettuce, pickles and red onion.
**I always recommend using a meat thermometer when making chicken as it is the safest way to cook AND makes the perfect chicken every time. This is my favorite thermometer from Amazon!
